Are you struggling with dry skin, acne or a dull complexion? When it comes to your skin health you really are what you eat. Ronja also learned how food affects her body and skin after struggling with acne for years. Read about her experience with superfoods and how they helped with her complexion.
''I had pretty strong acne since being a teenager - I was around 14 when it started. The countless doctors I've been to blamed it on puberty and prescribed me lots of pills and creams - that didn't help. Today I'm 25 and I'm still struggling with bad skin, even though I'm taking the anti-baby pill, had laser-surgery and took antibiotics.
Then I decided to try an experiment: I changed my diet completely and followed the 5-day detox plan. On the second day I could already see a huge improvement. My skin was less oily, the itchiness wasn't as bad and the inflammations healed.
I'm convinced that our skin is largely impacted by our food choices and and is linked to our gut health (as weird as that sounds). I always see a difference a big difference in my skin depending on what I eat - especially wheat, sugar and dairy seem to have a negative effect.’’
If we have an unhealthy, unbalanced gut environment, toxins can be released into the bloodstream and cause inflammation throughout the body. This shift in gut flora, and the subsequent inflammation, can cause a flare-up in the skin of those who are predisposed to acne, eczema or rosacea.
"Now I really try to eat healthier most of the time and I use the Forever Beautiful Mix in my Smoothies regularly. I feel like the superfoods help with the inflammations on my skin and the high concentration of nutrients make it softer and smoother."
The mix is full of antioxidants, especially vitamins E, C and A, which are known to protect against cell damage and rejuvenate the skin.
Omega-3 fatty acids are known to be anti-inflammatory, which helps healing the skin. High levels of omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to reduce the risk of acne and other skin problems by decreasing inflammation and keeping skin cells healthy.
Ronja's berry smoothie will replenish your body with antioxidants and healthy fats - which will not only make you feel great, but also glow from the inside out!
